Background of the Study
Gender diversity on corporate boards has gained attention as a critical factor influencing organizational performance and decision-making. Diverse boards are believed to bring varied perspectives, enhance problem-solving, and improve governance effectiveness (Adeyemi & Musa, 2024).
In Nigeria, the logistics industry is essential for facilitating trade and economic activities. However, the representation of women on boards remains low, raising concerns about the inclusivity and effectiveness of governance structures (Oluwaseun & Bello, 2023). This study investigates the effect of gender diversity on board effectiveness in logistics firms in Kaduna State, exploring the relationship between diversity and organizational outcomes.
Statement of the Problem
Despite global advocacy for gender diversity, Nigerian logistics firms, including those in Kaduna State, continue to exhibit low levels of female representation on boards. This lack of diversity may limit the board's ability to address complex challenges and make informed decisions (Afolabi & Eze, 2025). Furthermore, there is limited empirical evidence on how gender diversity impacts board effectiveness in the logistics sector.
This study aims to fill this gap by examining the role of gender diversity in enhancing board effectiveness and proposing strategies for increasing female representation.
